Longwall Shield Operator
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Hourly
GRADE ASSIGNMENT: $33.00/hour
JOB LOCATION: Leer South Mining Complex, Philippi, WV
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Operate Shearer
- Replace worn or broken bits and parts, using wrenches and other hand tools
- Observe indicator lights and gauges and listen to machine operation in order to detect binding or other equipment problems
- Ability to position roof supports
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Current WV Underground Miner Certification
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of three years of underground mining experience
- Experience as a production operator in Longwall coal mining
- Demonstrated ability to follow safe work procedures and inspection procedures
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Record of good work attendance and punctuality
