Job Location: Leer South Mining Complex, Philippi, WV

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:
Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the longwall system by maximizing efficiencies and effectively utilizing the resources provided.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans, organizes, schedules, and coordinates with mine management for all mining/maintenance activities regarding the operation of the longwall system from setup to production or to recovery.
Responsible for attaining optimum level of operating and cost efficiency by evaluating longwall performance and implementing improvements in equipment, plans, schedules, and operating methods.
Implements and maintains compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
Conducts meetings and organizes training to improve overall longwall performance.
Sets goals, priorities, and standards through communication and cooperation with all departments.
Maintains awareness of changing geological conditions and provide guidance as necessary to assure maximum quality efficiencies.
Responsible for recommending longwall equipment selection/modifications including contracts, equipment specifications, warranties and price negotiations. Recommends changes from production, maintenance, and health & safety viewpoints.
Responsible for supervisor selection, training and development, and motivates to perform in the safest, most productive and efficient manner.

REQUIRED AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
BS Degree in Mining, Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering or equivalent
5 years of longwall coal mining supervisory/engineering/technical experience
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong leadership ability
Good planning and organizational skills
Excellent safety record
Mine Foreman Certification or ability to obtain
