OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:

Perform Human Resources generalist functions ensuring effective coordination of policies, programs, and training in the areas of competitive selection and retention, employee relations, and employee benefits within state and federal guidelines.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and monitor activities related to the recruitment and retention of employees. Identify applicants that meet the requirements of the job; coordinate internal and external recruitment; conduct new hire orientation and benefit training; compile reports and statistical data including turnover, exit interview information, and manpower data; coordinate events and related activities with educational institutions.
  • Provide benefit administration support; respond to questions related to benefits; participate in open enrollment benefit activities; participate in spousal benefit meetings and wellness events. Coordinate workers' compensation benefits and non-occupational illness and injury benefits with the appropriate TPA or provider. Coordinate and monitor return-to-work programs by working with employees, the workers' compensation TPA, the Safety Department, and management.
  • Ensure proper posting of all Governmental Compliance required notices; assist with annual Affirmative Action Program and respond to all informational requests.
  • Perform daily employee changes in the HRIS system, Workday.
  • Participate in employee relations practices to establish and maintain positive employer/employee relationships and promote employee morale; respond to employees regarding basic policy administration issues/questions; participate in community relations events.

REQUIRED AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S. in Business Administration, Human Resources, Management, or equivalent experience
  • 2 years of HR generalist experience
  • Experience with an HRIS
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to prioritize work and maintain strict confidentiality
