Desktop Administrator

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:
This position provides tier 2 and tier 3 support for Arch Coal's desktop computing environment. Areas of responsibility include the configuration, optimization, monitoring, and management of the desktop computing environment. This includes ensuring the availability and security of new operating systems, web browsers, and applications that are consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.


RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Desktop support by providing tier 2 and tier 3 computer support company-wide. Participates in desktop computer procurement, standardization of desktop configuration, evaluation of new desktop hardware and software, and provide service post-implementation. Manage desktop infrastructure environment including desktop standard templates, desktop pool, and user management. Maintain relationship with 3rd parties providing hardware and software support.
Lead projects relating to improvements in performance, security, and/or maintenance to improve the end user experience. This includes security projects, image enhancements, virtual desktop infrastructure, operating system deployment, enterprise software upgrades, etc.
  
MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's degree with emphasis in Computer Science, math, engineering, or business or equivalent experience
• 4 years of experience with Windows operating systems
• 2 years of experience with Windows hardware in a business environment
• 2 years of experience in desktop deployment within an enterprise
• 2 years of experience configuring and installing desktop computer and peripherals
• Experience with an enterprise trouble ticketing system
• Familiarity with latest version of Microsoft Office
• Ability to travel 5-10% of time
• Ability to crawl, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds. Requires good manual dexterity
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
• Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral communications
• Superior analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Able to work in a team environment
• Able to work outside of normal work hours to address emergencies and perform scheduled off-hour activities
  
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• 4 years of experience with Windows hardware in a business environment
• Experience in a virtual desktop environment
• Experience with desktop technologies MDT, Sophos, Bitlocker, Direct Access, and SCCM
