Construction Supervisor

CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISOR

FLSA CLASSIFICATION:               EXEMPT

GRADE ASSIGNMENT:                  EX.10

JOB LOCATION:             Leer South Mining Complex, Philippi, WV

PRIMARY PURPOSE AND FUNCTION: Supervise construction work performed by hourly employees.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Manage and direct the construction crews in the performance of their duties on an assigned shift.
• Visit all construction sites and identify hazardous conditions and problem areas to ensure issues are addressed and corrected.
• Evaluate the work habits and safety practices of the construction crews and ensure all duties are performed safely according to mine laws and company policies.
• Assure that all equipment operated by the construction crews is maintained in safe operating condition.
• Maintain effective working relationships with construction crews with leadership, direction, and a responsive attitude.
• Implement all safety policies and procedures related to an injury free work environment.
• Actively support and promote the Behavior Based Safety Process.
• Develop, implement, and monitor cost reduction plans and productivity improvements.
• Examine daily requirements for manpower and supplies.
• Complete required airway examinations.
• General upkeep of all outby areas of mine.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School diploma or GED
• 2 years of mine construction experience
• Thorough knowledge of State and Federal Mining Laws
• Supervisory experience strong leadership ability
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Excellent problem solving skills, and the knowledge and ability to make decision relative to safety, production, maintenance, and law.
• The ability to successfully supervise and motivate the workforce.
• Basic computer skills
• WV Mine Foreman Certification
